Gleneden Dressage

USPC

From the time she was seven, the United States Pony Club (USPC) has played a significant role in Lendon’s life.  An A Pony Clubber by the time she was 16, she was awarded the title of USPC Legend in 2004.  She served as a National Examiner, was the Founding Chairman of the Vaulting Committee, and served on the Ratings and Dressage Committees.  She was a featured speaker for USPC’s 2002 Convention, and was a member of the Board of Governors from 2001-2005.  She remained a member of the Advisory Board from 2005-2009, and has continued as a member of the Dressage Committee since 2007.

The USPC is one of 30 branches of the international youth organization devoted to educating youths about horses and riding.  It includes over 600 clubs and 12,000 members, encouraging young riders to be well-rounded horse people, adept at both horse care and riding, the latter on the flat, over fences and cross-country.  In a larger sense, the USPC seeks to teach both “mounted sports and the care of horses and ponies, thereby developing responsibility, moral judgment, leadership and self-confidence.” (Pony Club Mission Statement)  This core of horsemanship has formed the foundation for Lendon’s work in the dressage world.
